What is a TEFL Course?

A TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Course is a 4 week training program that leads to a TEFL Certificate. This TEFL Certification is the international requirement for any English speaker aspiring to teach English as a Foreign Language around the world.

The international guideline for this type of certification course is 120 hours. Our TEFL training goes way beyond this standard by offering you 140 hours and 15 hours of real classroom teaching practicum.

What is the duration of the course?

The ICEP TEFL Training Course has a duration of 4 weeks and consist of 140 hours with 15 hours of teaching practicum. The course schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 1 hour lunch break from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. This schedule is quite intensive but at the same time provides you with enough free time in the afternoons to enjoy the beautiful tropical paradise that is Puerto Vallarta.

How many students are there per class?

Are the classes in English?

Definitely! All training, teaching practices, and interaction with staff will be 100% in English. Virtually all schools that you can possible work with upon graduation of the course will foster an English immersion environment for their students meaning that you will speaking English for most of your time abroad. So you don´t need to worry about speaking other languages in order to take part in this adventure.

What are the admission requirements?

In order to be accepted into ICEP’s TEFL Training candidates must:

  • Be native English speakers.
  • Non-Native speakers with a C1 Level are also welcome to join the course. If you do not have a standardized test such as a TOEFL or IELTS to verify your level of English you can take our admission exam and interview completely free of charge. The C1 standard is referenced in accordance to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • Be at least 20 years old.
  • Have a university/college degree or level of education required to enter a university.

How do I apply?

All you have to do is complete the application available on our website or call our school to register over the phone.

Which are the payment options?

To reserve your course all you need is a $200 USD deposit. This deposit is deducted from your total tuition. You can pay for this deposit through PayPal, Visa or MasterCard. The remaining tuition balance is payable on the first day of classes with the aforementioned methods or in Cash.

Can I take the course if I have cero teaching experience?

Absolutely! Our course is designed to train English speakers from academic and professional backgrounds. You don’t need to have any prior teaching experience in order to take our course thanks to the unique teaching practicum that you will acquire during the training. By the time you finish the course you will be quite prepared to teach English as a foreign language in multiple contexts.

Is there an age limit to take the course?

No. People in their 50’s, 60’s, and over are welcome to do their TEFL training with us and can rest assured that we will be able to find them a teaching job upon graduation of the course.

How do the teaching practices work?

The teaching practice at ICEP TEFL Training are designed to provide you with real-life teaching experience since they are conducted on real students studying English as a foreign language at our language center. Throughout your 4 weeks of training you will be provided with different lessons to prepare and will be assisted in creating the lesson plan by our expert trainers. You will also be observed by our trainers during your teaching practice so that developmental feedback can be provided for you regarding your performance and on how to improve your teaching technique.

Do I have to be a native English speaker to apply?

No you do not. Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to join our TEFL training. Non-native speakers simply need to meet the admission requirements visible on our website and pass our English proficiency admission exam.

What will I learn through this course?

The five areas of training comprised in this TEFL course include: English Grammar and Phonetics, Classroom Management and Control, Content Language Integrated Learning, Teaching Practice, and Communicative Teaching. By learning how to employ these skills in the classroom you will be able to successfully teach English as a foreign language in a variety of education scenarios.

One or two weeks after finishing the course. We will begin looking for jobs for you as soon as you begin your TEFL training.
